That the Parliament expresses concern about developments in the field of deepfake technology; recognises reports of the harm caused by sexual deepfakes to both adults and children, the financial cost of identity theft deepfakes, which it considers is industrialising fraud, and the threat of political deepfakes disrupting democratic elections; supports the goals of the ControlAI campaign, and calls on the UK Government to consider legislating for stronger controls on the production of deepfakes, including making the creation and dissemination of deepfakes a crime, and holding model developers and computer and service providers liable for negligence.
