  • Motion reference: S6M-12330

That the Parliament congratulates all of the winners of and participants in the recent 42nd Fife Festival of Music 2024; understands that Fife Festival of Music is a registered charity run by an elected committee, with the aim of encouraging musicians of all ages in every branch of choral and instrumental activity to perform in public; further understands that the festival events took place in the Vine Centre in Dunfermline, then at the Adam Smith Theatre and St Bryce Kirk in Kirkcaldy; recognises that the festival closed with the Young Musician 2024 competition, for those aged 21 and under, and that Alex Harrower from Kirkcaldy was awarded overall winner and received the Glen More Trophy, and the Marconi Space Trophy in the electric six-string/bass guitar class; believes that Alex is a long-time attendee of the YMCA Youth Music Project in Kirkcaldy, and receives tutoring from YMCA Music Project lead, Mark Burdett; is grateful to everyone involved from both Fife Festival of Music and YMCA Kirkcaldy for what it sees as their commitment to and support of the development of young people’s musical skills in the Mid Scotland and Fife region, and extends its very best wishes to everyone for continued success in the future.
