Strathcarron Hospice Raises Funds by Recycling Christmas Trees

  • Submitted by: Stephen Kerr, Central Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 29 January 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12006

That the Parliament recognises that Strathcarron Hospice managed to raise over £7,000 from recycling Christmas trees; understands that Strathcarron Hospice teamed up with several local businesses, including Torwood Garden Centre in Larbert, Sustainable Thinking Scotland in Bo'ness and UK charity, Just Helping, to support households in disposing of their Christmas trees after the festive season; further understands that the trees will be transformed into biochar, which will help enrich the soil, and congratulates everyone involved in this imaginative project that will improve the local environment whilst raising funds to provide specialised care for people living with life-limiting illness.
