  • Submitted by: Keith Brown, Clackmannanshire and Dunblane, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 06 July 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-09889

That the Parliament congratulates Ben Moore and Ross McInally, from Alloa Academy, who secured first place in the 2023 Young Pathfinders Climate Competition; understands that the Young Pathfinders programme brings together pupils from schools across Stirling and Clackmannanshire to explore the challenges and opportunities presented by Scotland’s transition to net zero; further understands that the programme is an opportunity for participants to develop employability skills such as teamwork, leadership, communication and problem solving; acknowledges that the programme is managed by the University of Stirling as part of Scotland’s International Environment Centre (SIEC); considers that SIEC is a pioneering collaboration between the university, Clackmannanshire Council and Stirling Council, which will create an innovation community in the Forth Valley, and notes that SIEC is funded by an investment of £17 million from the Scottish Government and £5 million from the UK Government as part of the £214 million Stirling and Clackmannanshire City Region Deal, which it believes will drive productivity and inclusive growth across the region.
