To ask the Scottish Government what action it is taking to support businesses in the Mull of Kintyre.
Answer
The Scottish Government is working with a range of partners to ensure businesses in Kintyre can thrive.
I held an economic summit at Machrihanish last month - a note of which my officials sent yesterday to all invitees, including the Member - and will convene a Working Group in the new year to engage with agencies and businesses on action required to protect existing jobs and create new ones across Kintyre.
I know how challenging the impact of any job losses will be on the area and its communities. I am determined to explore all options for support.

To ask the Scottish Government whether it is standard practice for (a) the First Minister and (b) all (i) cabinet secretaries and (ii) ministers to respond to official emails with handwritten notes that are subsequently not retained.
Answer
It is longstanding standard procedure for officials to transcribe handwritten notes made by Ministers into a digital version as part of the processing of the papers in their Ministerial boxes. This digital version is then captured within the official record. As part of Scottish Government's efforts to reduce our environmental impact, ministerial private offices are currently piloting different approaches to ensure safe, secure, electronic operation of the traditional ministerial box.
