To ask the Scottish Government how many transvaginal mesh implant kits have been purchased by each NHS board in each year since 2007.
Answer
The information requested is not held centrally. Mesh used in a transvaginal setting is procured directly by Health Boards and ‘transvaginal mesh kits’ have never been procured through national contracts. The amount of mesh procured cannot be accurately established, given that there are a range of suppliers and varying units and systems within Health Boards to procure small volume medical devices, such as mesh, as required.

To ask the Scottish Government what services are available to help support people with sleep apnoea with the maintenance and support of their devices, and what guidance it has issued to NHS boards in this regard.
Answer
Patients using Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) should have access to a blend of technician and nurse specialist advice and support at follow-up clinics, drop-in service or telephone helplines.
Guidelines are available from the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) and the National Institute for Care Excellence (NICE).

To ask the Scottish Government what the average waiting time was for a care package to be put together for someone diagnosed with a life-limiting condition in each year since 2007, broken down by (a) NHS board and (b) local authority.
Answer
The Scottish Government does not hold information centrally on waiting times for the delivery of care packages for people diagnosed with life-limiting conditions.
However the Scottish Government publishes information on the time interval between completion of assessment and service delivery for people aged 65+ with personal care needs. The figures are shown for Scotland and for each local authority. This can be found on the Scottish Government website: https://www.gov.scot/Topics/Statistics/Browse/Health/Data/QuarterlySurvey/ECWT082017

To ask the Scottish Government what the average waiting time to see a physiotherapist was in each NHS board in each year since 2007.
Answer
This information is not centrally held.
Musculoskeletal (MSK) waiting time data is collected to allow measurement of the allied health professional MSK target. Physiotherapy is one of the 4 MSK professions (physiotherapy, podiatry, occupational therapy and orhtotics) included and measured for this target. MSK physiotherapy data has been collected from July 2015 but only as NHS Boards were able to provide data of sufficient quality for publication. The MSK data is considered to be developmental.
Further information on waiting times can be found on the ISD website - http://www.isdscotland.org/Health-Topics/Waiting-Times/

To ask the Scottish Government what the current financial position is in relation to each of the integration joint boards and whether there are any budget overspends.
Answer
The Scottish Government reports to the Health and Sport
Committee on the financial position for all Integration
Authorities on a quarterly basis and the reports are publicly
available on the Scottish Parliament’s website:
http://www.parliament.scot/parliamentarybusiness/Current
Committees/108233.aspx
The first two quarterly reports are available at:

The Scottish Government expects all Integration Authorities
to continue to develop their plans and work towards delivering
a balanced financial position and for the consolidated overspend
to reduce throughout the year as savings plans continue to be
developed, expenditure patterns become clearer and use of
reserves and additional financial support from partners is
confirmed. Additional funding from Health Boards to address
the overspend is factored in to the overall Health and Sport
Portfolio budget, which remains on track to deliver a balanced
outturn position.

To ask the Scottish Government how much has been spent on defending claims against the NHS where liability has been admitted and settled out of court in each year since 2007, also broken down by NHS board.
Answer
The information requested is not held by the Scottish Government. Where a claim for compensation is made and settlement is agreed the information held under the Clinical Negligence and Other Risks Indemnity Scheme (CNORIS) does not distinguish as to whether liability had been admitted or not.
The CNORIS annual report provides summary details of the number and value of claims made during the financial year, along with historical values. The annual reports are published online at: https://clo.scot.nhs.uk/our-services/cnoris/frequently-asked-questions.aspx

To ask the Scottish Government how many school nurses have been employed in each year since 2007, broken down by local authority.
Answer
ISD Scotland does not centrally hold workforce information broken down by local authority. However, the number of school nurses employed by NHSScotland is published quarterly by Health Boards.
Data from 2015 to the most recent data, published on 4 September 2018, can be found at https://www.isdscotland.org/Health-Topics/Workforce/Publications/2018-09-04/Non-Medical_Trend_J2018.xls .

To ask the Scottish Government when ministers first received notice of the communication sent by Dr Munwar Hussain to the NHS Tayside board around 27 June 2018 outlining whistleblowing concerns, and what action was taken as a result.
Answer
On 3 September 2018 I received an email from Munwar Hussain in which he wrote that, on 27 June 2018, he received an email from a former junior doctor about bullying allegations. He stated that he then informed NHS Tayside’s Chair. NHS Tayside confirmed that the bulling allegations relate to Adult Mental Health Services which are presently under General Medical Council Enhanced Monitoring measures, of which Scottish Government officials were already aware.

To ask the Scottish Government how many breastfeeding services have been removed or closed since 2007, broken down by NHS board.
Answer
Information on local breastfeeding services is not held centrally. It is for each NHS Board to plan services to meet the needs of its population including how best to utilise funding, facilities and staff to deliver these services.
Maternity and Community services across NHSScotland are now fully accredited by Unicef UK as Baby Friendly. All Midwives, Health Visitors, Family Nurses and support staff have been trained and are competent to provide high quality feeding and relationship building care for mothers and babies in all their infant feeding decisions.
In Scotland. the proportion of babies being fed any breast milk at their first visit has increased slightly over the last 10 years.

To ask the Scottish Government when it estimates that it will end delayed discharge from hospitals.
Answer
Delayed discharges are on an annual downward trend, with the latest annual report showing a 7% reduction on 2016-17, builds on a 3% reduction the year before and a 9% reduction 2015-16.
This is good progress which we recognise. None the less, more needs to be done and officials are currently working with Health and Social Care Partnerships to explore ongoing challenges and drive long-term, sustainable improvements.
