To ask the Scottish Executive what action it is taking to ensure the continuation of telehealth services in the Scottish Borders following the removal of pump-priming funds from the Joint Improvement Team in March 2011.
Answer
The Scottish Government''s Joint Improvement Team is supporting the development of Telecare services across all 32 health and social care partnerships in Scotland to enhance the delivery of care services to people in their own homes and community settings. It has invested a total of £20 million in the Telecare Development Programme since its launch in August 2006.
The 2010-11 Telecare allocation of £4 million through the Scottish Government''s eHealth programme is helping local care partnerships, including the Scottish Borders partnership, to make further progress in supporting people effectively at home as an alternative to hospital or care home admission.
Though converging partly with Telecare, Telehealth services focus on addressing clinical remotely using digital technologies and their development is being led by the Scottish Centre for Telehealth, part of NHS24.
Following the announcement of the UK Government''s Spending Review, the Scottish Government is now finalising its own plans. Decisions on funding for Telecare services will be taken in the light of the outcome to be announced to the Parliament later in November 2010.

To ask the Scottish Executive, further to the answer to question S3O-11646 by John Swinney on 7 October 2010, whether it will provide a breakdown of meetings that have taken place since April 2010 between it and organisations and representatives from the business community, including the dates of the meetings, the organisations represented and the individuals present.
Answer
Numerous meetings have taken place between various Ministers and officials since April 2010. These include meetings with representative bodies, such as the Scottish Chamber of Commerce whom I met on 28 June, as well as meetings at which a range of individuals were present, such as when the Minister for Enterprise, Energy and Tourism met with local Ballater businesses on 27 September.
Additionally, there has been various correspondence between both private individual business owners and representative business organisations, since April 2010.
In addition to meetings and direct correspondence, we have sought to make information on revaluation widely available. This includes on the Scottish Government and Business Gateway websites and leaflets have been distributed to Councils, Scottish Assessors, business representative organisations such as Federation of Small Businesses, Citizens Advice Bureaux, individual ratepayers and specialist rating agents.

To ask the Scottish Executive how many hospital ward closures as a result of infections there were in (a) 2006-07, (b) 2007-08, (c) 2008-09 and (d) 2009-10 in hospitals administered by NHS (i) Borders, (ii) Dumfries and Galloway, (iii) Lothian, (iv) Ayrshire and Arran and (v) Lanarkshire.
Answer
The following table shows the number of whole or partial ward closures as a result of infection, for the period 2006 to 2010, in hospitals administered by NHS Borders, Dumfries and Galloway, Lothian, Ayrshire and Arran and Lanarkshire.
The figures in brackets are the number of whole or partial ward closures due to norovirus. NHS Lanarkshire has confirmed that during the period 2006 to 2009 the organism responsible for the remaining ward closures was not confirmed, but that norovirus was suspected in almost all of the cases.
