To ask the Scottish Government whether it has received any representations from the Registrar General of Scotland regarding how same sex couples are recorded on birth certificates.
Answer
The Scottish Government has not received any representations from the Registrar General for Scotland in respect of how same sex couples are recorded on birth certificates.
Birth certificates are extracts from the Register of Births, the form of which is laid down by Scottish Statutory Instrument made by the Registrar General and approved by the Scottish Ministers http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ssi/2009/315/schedule/1/made
There are no current plans to change the form of the Register of Births.

To ask the Scottish Government what plans it has to review how adoptions by same sex couples are recorded on updated birth certificates.
Answer
There are at present no plans to review how adoptions by same sex couples are recorded on ‘updated birth certificates’ (i.e. official extracts from the statutory Adopted Children Register). The headings for parents on such extracts ('Mother/Parent' and 'Father/Parent') allow for designations which fit the circumstances of parents in both opposite and same sex relationships.

To ask the Scottish Government what its position is on Basketball Scotland's decision to give up its International Basketball Federation (FIBA) membership and compete as Great Britain in official competitions in future.
Answer
This is a matter for Basketball Scotland, and the Scottish Government has no locus to intervene.
Due to the International Federation’s statutes, it is not possible to have both GB and Home Countries teams competing in FIBA Europe Competitions. While a dispensation was provided in the lead up to the 2012 London Olympics, this dispensation was only ever short term, lasting until 2016. Therefore, British Basketball is now the member of FIBA and Basketballscotland’s membership of the International Body will be through British Basketball.
It remains Basketballscotland’s intention to retain all current National Squads (u16, u18 and Senior age-groups) beyond 2016. These programmes will play a critical part in the performance pathway and in the development of players who will be able to play the game professionally and represent GB on the world stage.
