Parliamentary questions can be asked by any MSP to the Scottish Government or the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body. The questions provide a means for MSPs to get factual and statistical information.

  • Written questions must be answered within 10 working days (20 working days during recess)
  • Other questions such as Topical, Portfolio, General and First Minister's Question Times are taken in the Chamber

To ask the Scottish Government whether it will undertake an urgent review of section 20 (1) of the Local Government in Scotland Act 2003 in light of the opinion of the Inner House of the Court Session dated 12 September 2012 in relation to Edinburgh City Council's proposal to build a new Portobello High School.

To ask the Scottish Government what its position is on the opinion of the Inner House of the Court of Session dated 12 September 2012 on the motion by Portobello Park Action Group against proposed plans by the City of Edinburgh Council to build a new Potobello High School that it "is far from self-evident, the construction of a significant High School in a public park could be deemed a matter of 'well-being'" as defined by section 20 (1) of the Local Government in Scotland Act 2003.
