To ask the Scottish Government what discussions it has had with (a) the UK Government and (b) nature conservation agencies regarding the completion of the 2019 National Seabird Census, and whether it considers this work an essential prerequisite of the Seabird Conservation Strategy that was announced in its Programme for Government.

To ask the Scottish Government what discussions it has had with the UK Government regarding introducing a replacement for the EU funding scheme, LIFE.

As a member of the UK LIFE Management Group, the Scottish Government maintains regular contact with the UK Government and other devolved administrations regarding the EU LIFE funding programme.

Natural England is currently undertaking a UK-wide research project looking at potential options for a replacement for the EU LIFE scheme. The Scottish Government has been assured that its views will be taken into account as part of this project. We have made it clear that there must not be any reduction in funding for environmental projects in Scotland as a result of EU Exit, and that the allocation of funding for the environment should reflect the greater extent of natural habitats and protected areas in Scotland and the greater potential for environmental projects in Scotland to contribute to the international targets on biodiversity.
