To ask the Scottish Executive how many staff the Scottish Tourist Board and VisitScotland employed in (a) the United States of America, (b) Canada, (c) Germany, (d) Italy, (e) France, (f) the Netherlands and (g) Belgium in each year since 1990.
Answer
Neither VisitScotland nor the Scottish Tourist Board before it has directly employed any staff in the United Statesof America, Canada, Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands or Belgium since 1990.In some cases, VisitScotland contract with local marketing, PR and other agenciesfor the supply of various services in these markets. The VisitScotland marketingstaff who cover these countries travel extensively within them as the needs of theirjobs require, where appropriate using VisitBritain offices as bases, and using newtechnology to remain in constant touch with their VisitScotland colleagues acrossScotland.

To ask the Scottish Executive how much has been spent on hospital food and nutrition in each NHS board in each of the last five years.
Answer
The Scottish Executive does notcollect information on the total amount spent on hospital food and nutrition byNHS boards. However, the catering costs incurred by NHS board are reported in thecosts book each year. This can be found on the National Services Scotland InformationServices Division website at

Answer
The Scottish Executive does notcollect information on the amount spent by central government on improving hospitalnutrition. NHS boards must determine the amount allocated to hospital nutritionwithin their own resources and according to relevant guidelines.

To ask the Scottish Executive, further to the answer to question S2W-27403 by Mr Andy Kerr on 9 August 2006, how many in-patients were on hospital waiting lists on 30 June 2006, also expressed per 100,000 of the population.
Answer
On 30 June 2006, the number of patientswaiting for in-patient and day case treatment was 104,631. On the same date, thewaiting list per 100,000 population was 2,054.
