To ask the Scottish Executive what estimate it has made of how many (a) football, (b) rugby, (c) tennis, (d) athletics, (e) hockey and (f) swimming clubs there have been in each local authority area in each of the last five years.
Answer
Neither the Scottish Executive nor sportscotland has estimates of the number of sports clubs in local authority areas. The Scottish Football Association, Scottish Rugby Union, Tennis Scotland, Scottish Athletics, Scottish Hockey Union and Scottish Swimming may be able to provide some regional breakdowns of the numbers of clubs that are affiliated to them.

To ask the Scottish Executive, further to the answer to question S1W-11691 by Mr Malcolm Chisolm on 23 January 2001, how many nursing home and residential care home beds have been closed in each of the last three years.
Answer
The following tables show thenumber of care homes and the number of registered care home places for March 2000to March 2004.
The most recent three year comparisonavailable is between March 2001 and March 2004. During this period the number ofregistered places has fallen by 1,246 across all client groups and by 308 in carehomes for older people.
The change in the number of carehome places during this period is due to a combination of care home closures, theopening of new care homes, increases in the capacity of some care homes and reductionsin the capacity of others.

Answer
The following tables show thenumber of private, voluntary and local authority care homes and care home placesfor adults in Scotland since March 2000. The figures relate to care homes forall user groups and include homes for older people, homes for adults with physicaldisabilities, homes for adults with mental health problems, homes for adults withlearning disabilities and other adult care homes.

To ask the Scottish Executive what percentage of (a) primary and (b) secondary schools are equipped with broadband internet access.
Answer
Information collected by Learningand Teaching Scotland in 2004 indicated that 38% of primary schools, 78% of secondaryschools and 50% of special schools had internet connections running at 2Mbps orbetter.

To ask the Scottish Executive what the cost to the NHS has been of treating patients with osteoporosis in each of the last five years.
Answer
This information is not heldcentrally. NHS boards are given a unified budget, increased by an average of 7.6%in the current financial year, from which they would be expected to meet the costsof treatment for people with osteoporosis.

To ask the Scottish Executive how many new cases of HIV/AIDS as a result of blood transfusions have been reported in each of the last three years.
Answer
During the period 1 January 2002 to 31 March 2005, there were five new reports of individuals who were infected with HIV and whose only risk factor was the receipt of a blood transfusion.
Three of these reports were received in 2002. One individual received a transfusion in Africa, one in South America and the other was reported as receiving a neonate in Tayside in 1984. Two reports were received in 2003. One individual received a transfusion in Zimbabwe and the other in England in 1984.
Blood donor testing for HIV became available worldwide in 1985.

To ask the Scottish Executive how many people were prosecuted for not having a television licence and how much was collected in fines for not having a licence in each year since 1997 (a) in total and (b) broken down by police force area.
Answer
The available information is given in the tables. Convictions for the offence of not having a television licence cannot generally be identified separately from those for other Wireless Telegraphy Act offences, though they will form the great majority of the total.
