Parliamentary questions can be asked by any MSP to the Scottish Government or the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body. The questions provide a means for MSPs to get factual and statistical information.

  • Written questions must be answered within 10 working days (20 working days during recess)
  • Other questions such as Topical, Portfolio, General and First Minister's Question Times are taken in the Chamber

To ask the Scottish Executive whether it will require, as part of its current review of section 6 of building regulations, compulsory random air-tightness testing of all new buildings to ascertain on-site compliance with energy standards in building regulations and what the reasons are for its position on the matter.

To ask the Scottish Executive whether it is aware of any research into on-site compliance with energy standards in building regulations in Scotland and whether it is aware of the Building Research Establishment report, Assessment of energy efficiency impact of Building Regulations compliance, which surveyed new buildings in England in 2004 and found that 43% of new houses surveyed did not meet energy standards in building regulations.
