Parliamentary questions can be asked by any MSP to the Scottish Government or the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body. The questions provide a means for MSPs to get factual and statistical information.

  • Written questions must be answered within 10 working days (20 working days during recess)
  • Other questions such as Topical, Portfolio, General and First Minister's Question Times are taken in the Chamber

To ask the Scottish Government, further to the answer to question S4W-14802 by Paul Wheelhouse on 28 May 2013, in light of the freshwater pearl mussel being considered one of the world's most endangered species and numbers in the River Spey and other Scottish rivers deteriorating, whether it considers that Scottish Natural Heritage's decision to employ one staff member to cover the whole country for three years offers adequate protection, and what the reasons are for its position on this matter.
