My letter to Principals of 11 January relates to funding for academic year 2012-13.

The Scottish Funding Council has indicated that it intends to allocate £84.2 million to further education student support in the academic year 2012-13.

This maintains the baseline for academic year 2011-12, protecting college students from the reductions we have been forced to make elsewhere as the result of the swingeing cut which the UK Government is making to Scotland’s block grant.

The police investigation is still on-going.

It is for private healthcare providers to ensure that they provide a clinically appropriate package of care to women with PIP silicone breast implants.

The Cabinet Secretary for Health, Wellbeing and Cities Strategy has not met representatives from these private healthcare providers. At the request of the provider, Scottish Government officials are scheduled to meet with representatives of Transform on 9 February 2012.
