On a point of order, Presiding Officer. I seek your guidance on the importance of accurate contributions from members in the chamber. At First Minister’s question time today, Anas Sarwar said that Inverclyde’s out-of-hours general practitioner service has been permanently closed. That is factually inaccurate, and that misinformation could cause severe alarm to my constituents. To be absolutely clear, Inverclyde residents still have access to a full GP out-of-hours service. The level of local direct provision—in contrast to regional provision—is for a different debate. It is of the utmost importance that accuracy is at the forefront of everything that we do in the chamber, and I seek your guidance on how a member could correct the record after sharing such misinformation.
Points of order relate to whether proper parliamentary procedures have been—or are being—followed. Mr McMillan’s point relates to accuracy, which is not a matter for the chair to rule on. Members will be aware, of course, of the scrutiny measures that are available to them to pursue matters, and they will also be aware of the mechanism that exists for correcting the record.
