Publication of Storm Arwen review

Letter from the Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Covid Recovery, John Swinney, to the Convener, 27 January 2022

Dear Convener,

I wrote to you on 16 December to set out our plans in relation to work to review the response to Storm Arwen.

I am writing to confirm that we have published our review today. It is available at www.gov.scot/publications/storm-arwen-review.

The review has collated and examined the lessons identified through formal debriefing following the storm, as conducted by Local Resilience Partnerships, the voluntary sector, and utilities companies, and from this evidence base identified key themes requiring additional attention.

It makes make a range of recommendations for those across the resilience and emergency planning sector in Scotland, to strengthen our national resilience against future risks.

Following publication of the report we will continue to work with the sector, and provide an update on progress against these recommendations in June 2022.

John Swinney
