1. Decisions on taking business in private:

The Committee agreed to take items 4, 5 and 6 in private.


2. NHS waiting times:

The Committee took evidence from—

Katie Cuthbertson, National Director for the Centre for Sustainable Delivery, NHS Scotland Centre for Sustainable Delivery;

Professor Farhat Din, Council Member, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh;

Peter Hastie, Policy and Public Affairs Manager, Scotland, Macmillan Cancer Support;

Max Warner, Research Economist, Institute for Fiscal Studies.

Sandesh Gulhane declared an interest as a practising NHS GP.

Emma Harper declared an interest as a registered nurse and as having worked for NHS Dumfries and Galloway.

Clare Haughey declared an interest as holding a bank nurse contract with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.


3. Post-legislative scrutiny of the Social Care (Self-directed Support) (Scotland) Act 2013:

The Committee took evidence from—

Kaylie Allen, Director of Funds, Inspiring Scotland;

Pauline Lunn, Director, In Control Scotland;

Donald Macleod, Chief Executive, Self-Directed Support Scotland;

Dr Jane Kellock, Project Lead and Consultant, Self-Directed Support Team, Social Work Scotland.

5. Post-legislative scrutiny of the Social Care (Self-directed Support) (Scotland) Act 2013 (in private):

The Committee considered the evidence it heard earlier under agenda item 3.


6. Work programme (in private):

The Committee considered its future work programme.

Following its recent scrutiny of a Legislative Consent Memorandum on the UK Tobacco and Vapes Bill and further to the subsequent dissolution of the UK Parliament in advance of a UK General Election on 4 July, the Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government to request an update on its latest policy position on smoking, tobacco and vaping.
