1. Decisions on taking business in private:
The Committee agreed to take items 5, 7 and 8 in private.
2. Victims and Prisoners Bill (UK Parliament legislation):
The Committee took evidence on legislative consent memorandum LCM-S6-45 from—
Jenni Minto, Minister for Public Health and Women's Health, and Sam Baker, Public Health Capabilities Division, Scottish Government.
Sandesh Gulhane declared an interest as a practising NHS GP.
3. Subordinate legislation:
The Committee took evidence on the Registration of Social Workers and Social Service Workers in Care Services (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2024 [draft] from—
Natalie Don, Minister for Children, Young People and Keeping the Promise, and Jamie McIntyre, Team Lead, SSSC Sponsorship Team, Scottish Government.
4. Subordinate legislation:
Natalie Don (Minister for Children, Young People and Keeping the Promise) moved—
S6M-12990—That the Health, Social Care and Sport Committee recommends that the Registration of Social Workers and Social Service Workers in Care Services (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2024 [draft] be approved.
The motion was agreed to.
5. Post-legislative scrutiny of the Social Care (Self-directed Support) (Scotland) Act 2013 (in private):
The Committee considered a draft report on phase 1 of its scrutiny, and its approach to phase 2 of its scrutiny.
One change to the report was agreed, and the Committee agreed to consider an updated draft via correspondence. The Committee agreed its approach to phase 2 of its scrutiny.
6. Work programme (in private):
The Committee considered and agreed its future work programme.
7. Subordinate legislation (in private):
The Committee considered a draft report on the Registration of Social Workers and Social Service Workers in Care Services (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2024 [draft].
The Committee agreed to delegate consideration of an updated draft to the Convener.
8. Victims and Prisoners Bill (UK Parliament legislation) (in private):
The Committee considered and agreed a draft report on legislative consent memorandum LCM-S6-45. The Committee also agreed to write to the UK Government about stakeholder concerns raised during consideration of the LCM.
