The Committee agreed to take items 6 and 7 in private.


2. NHS Boards scrutiny:

The Committee took evidence from—

Claire Burden, Chief Executive, NHS Ayrshire and Arran;

Cathie Cowan, Chief Executive, NHS Forth Valley;

Ralph Roberts, Chief Executive, NHS Borders.

Sandesh Gulhane declared an interest as having worked for NHS Ayrshire and Arran and NHS Forth Valley.


3. Inquiry into female participation in sport and physical activity:

The Committee took evidence from—

Kate Joester, Policy and Influencing Coordinator Scotland, Living Streets Scotland;

Cecilia Oram, Head of Behaviour Change, Sustrans Scotland;

Patrick Murphy, Senior Manager, South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture;

Kirsty Garrett, Sports Development and Physical Activity Manager, Glasgow Life;

Euan Lowe, Chief Executive, Scottish Swimming.


4. Subordinate legislation:

The Committee took evidence on the Health and Care (Staffing) (Scotland) Act 2019 Amendment Regulations 2023 from—

Maree Todd, Minister for Public Health, Women's Health and Sport, Sarah Cartwright, Policy Officer, Health and Care (Staffing) (Scotland) Act, Implementation Team and Cecilia McCullough, Solicitor, Scottish Government.


5. Subordinate legislation:

The Minister for Public Health, Women's Health and Sport moved—S6M-07988—That the Health, Social Care and Sport Committee recommends that the Health and Care (Staffing) (Scotland) Act 2019 Amendment Regulations 2023 be approved.

The motion was agreed to without division or dissent.
