Intergovernmental relations (IGR) are the relationships between different governments within the UK, for example, when ministers from the Scottish Government meet their counterparts in the UK Government.
When such meetings involve Scottish Government Ministers responsible for Finance the Scottish Government writes to this Committee notifying it of the meeting and what was discussed. This enables the Committee to provide stronger and more transparent parliamentary scrutiny.
The Committee has written agreements on the budget process with the Scottish Government and the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body.
These documents set out an understanding between the Finance and Public Administration Committee and the respective bodies on the administrative arrangements relating to the scrutiny of the annual draft budget.
