Letter from the Convener to the Convener of the Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments Committee, 4 October 2021
Dear Mr Whitfield
The Committee notes that Rule 6.8 of the Standing Orders requires a mandatory committee to be established whose remit covers Europe and External Relations but that this is no longer accurate following the UK’s departure from the EU. We also note that the Parliament agreed a temporary alternative remit and name for that Committee on 15 June 2021. We understand it is a matter for the Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments Committee to consider and make a recommendation to the Parliament on whether this change should be permanent. We are content that the remit of the Constitution, Europe, External Affairs and Culture Committee is made permanent.
Yours Sincerely
Clare Adamson, Convener of the Constitution, Europe, External Affairs and Culture Committee
