1. Decision on taking business in private:

The Committee agreed to take item 4 in private. 


2. Consideration of continued petitions:

The Committee considered the following continued petitions: 

PE1933: Allow the Fornethy Survivors to access Scotland’s redress scheme. The Committee took evidence from — 

Kirsty Darwent, Chair, Redress Scotland 

Joanna McCreadie, Chief Executive, Redress Scotland 

and then considered: 

PE1877: Provide body cameras for all frontline NHS staff. The Committee agreed to close the petition under Rule 15.7 of Standing Orders. 

PE1902: To allow an appeal process for Community Participation Requests. The Committee agreed to close the petition under Rule 15.7 of Standing Orders. 

PE1976: Backdate council tax discounts for dementia to the date of GP certification. The Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government. 

PE2022: Introduce national safeguarding guidance on how higher education institutions should handle cases of sexual misconduct. The Committee agreed to close the petition under Rule 15.7 of Standing Orders. In closing the petition, the Committee agreed to write to the Minister for Higher and the Further Education, and the Education, Children and Young People Committee. 

PE2032: Improve the support available to injured soldiers and veterans in Scotland. The Committee agreed to close the petition under Rule 15.7 of Standing Orders. In closing the petition, the Committee agreed to write to the Minister for Veterans.   


3. Consideration of new petitions:

The Committee considered the following new petitions: 

PE2083: Review the rules to ensure that no dog becomes more dangerous as a result of breed specific regulations. The Committee agreed to write to the Minister for Agriculture and Connectivity. 

PE2088: Help eliminate cervical cancer through improved and at home HPV testing. The Committee agreed to write to the UK National Screening Committee, and the Scottish Government.  

PE2089: Stop More National Parks in Scotland. The Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government.  

PE2090: Update the legislation granting permission for Digital Display Boards. The Committee agreed to write to Heads of Planning Scotland, the Royal Town Planning Institute, and Outsmart.  

PE2091: Provide funding to have a CAHMS worker and a nurse based within Scottish high schools. The Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government.    


4. Consideration of evidence:

The Committee considered the evidence it heard under agenda item 2.
