PE1865/B - Suspend all surgical mesh and fixation devices

A number of years ago I had surgical mesh to repair a Hernia. I was only advised of the use after I asked why I had no stitches. I was given no specific aftercare.

While my case may not be as horrific as other sufferers I believe that the use of surgical mesh has to be suspended. I currently have another Hernia and if I am fortunate enough to have it repaired I would not want mesh to be used in this repair.

This product has caused extreme damage, both physically and physiological to many many people as you may well be aware. As far as I am aware at the time of writing the Scottish Government have yet to follow through on the recommendations of various bodies involved in the mesh scandal.

I trust you and other members of the committee will give this matter your full consideration.
