The Equalities, Human Rights and Civil Justice Committee considered the statement of reasons at its meeting on 5 October 2021 and agreed it was not satisfied with the reasons given by the member for not consulting on the draft proposal.
Under Rule 9.14.7 of the Parliament’s Standing Orders, the proposal falls unless the member, within 2 months, lodges with the Clerk a consultation document conforming with paragraph 3(a) (except that the consultation process shall begin on the day on which the proposal is republished under this paragraph).
