Death of Alex Salmond

A book of condolence has been opened at the Scottish Parliament to allow visitors to pay their respects to the former First Minister, the Rt Hon Alex Salmond. 
 
Following news of his death Presiding Officer Rt Hon Alison Johnstone MSP said "My sincere condolences to his wife, his friends and family on the sad news of the passing of Rt Hon Alex Salmond. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time."

Public petitions

Petitions are a way to ask the Parliament to do something.

Any person or organisation can submit a petition: you do not have to be a certain age or live in Scotland.

MSPs cannot submit a petition but they can support them.
