NHS Grampian Trials New Technology, "Bedside Intelligent Cabinet"

  • Submitted by: Kevin Stewart, Aberdeen Central, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 19 November 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-15509

That the Parliament welcomes the news that NHS Grampian has been trialling new technology to help facilitate the self-administration of medicines; understands that the technology from Kinetic-ID, called a "Bedside Intelligent Cabinet", stores routine medicines securely and alerts patients or guardians when it is time to take their medication; further understands that this technology provides staff with updates and alerts them if any medication is missed; understands that a senior solutions consultant at Kinetic-ID has reportedly stated that the trial, taking place in the medical ward at Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, is leading to much quicker development of the final product thanks to the pace and forward-thinking shown by NHS Grampian colleagues; congratulates the NHS Grampian Innovation Hub on its continued focus on co-developing and evaluating technology that it considers has the potential to help solve major healthcare challenges, and hopes that the trial leads to the development of a final product that has a huge, positive impact on healthcare outcomes.
