Generosity of John Munro Butchers Will Replace Stolen Defibrillator in Inverness

  • Submitted by: Edward Mountain, Highlands and Islands, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 22 July 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-13925

That the Parliament recognises what it sees as the generosity of John Munro Butchers, in Inverness, which has committed to purchase a second defibrillator for Church Street, after the first one that it bought was reportedly stolen and dumped; understands that the previous defibrillator was later recovered by a skipper at Inverness Harbour, and that the equipment is currently undergoing repairs to see if it can be salvaged from considerable water damage; appreciates that, in the meantime, a replacement defibrillator has been donated by the Portree charity, Lucky2BHere; recognises what it considers to be the importance of public defibrillators, their ease of use and their role in saving lives through faster response, especially in remote Highland and Islands communities, and thanks John Munro Butchers for its ongoing commitment to the local community.
