On 23 September 2023 I attended the Ayr Gold Cup at Ayr Racecourse as a guest of Scottish Racing (an organisation promoting and supporting the sport of horseracing throughout Scotland; c/o Hamilton Park Racecourse, Bothwell Road, Hamilton, ML3 0DW). Overseas visits

From 6 to 13 October 2024, as a co-convenor of the Cross-Party Group on Taiwan, I visited Taiwan as a guest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of China (Taiwan). The trip was arranged by the Taipei Representative Office (Edinburgh) in the UK, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) (of 1 Melville Street, Edinburgh, EH3 7PE). The Tapei Representative Office (Edinburgh) offers quasi-consular assistance to Taiwanese nationals in Scotland and represents the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in the United Kingdom through a manner of cultural, academic, and economic activities. On my visit to Taiwan, I met a number of Government departments, as well as trade, faith-based and cultural organisations. The visit was made up of a cross-party delegation all of whom were, at the time of the trip, members of the Cross Party Group on Taiwan. The total cost of the flights, hotels and ancillary expenses was £8,800. These costs were met entirely by the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) as detailed above. From 31 July to 5 August 2016 I was part of a fact finding political delegation to Israel and the West Bank for Scottish Conservative MSPs. The costs of the visit amounted to £2,000 and were met by Conservative Friends of Israel (of CFI Ltd, PO Box 72288, London, SW1P 9LB).
