That the Parliament congratulates Mid-Argyll branch National Farmers Union Scotland (NFUS) member and farmer, John Semple, on being presented with the Argyll and the Islands Stalwart Award for 2024; understands that the Stalwart Award was established in 2016 in recognition and memory of the late Bert Leitch and Lachlan MacLean, for their work in representing farmers and crofters regionally and nationally for many years before passing away in 2015; acknowledges that John has been involved in the Mid-Argyll branch for more than 25 years, including six years as chairman, as well as representing the region on many of the commodity committees at NFUS head office; recognises what it sees as the importance of Scotland’s farmers and crofters as custodians of Scotland's countryside, and wishes John well for the future.
