Beath High School Pupils' School Meals Campaign

  • Submitted by: Annabelle Ewing, Cowdenbeath, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 09 May 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-13136

That the Parliament recognises the recent school meals campaign by local Beath High School pupils from S5 and S6; understands that they took it upon their own initiative to raise their concerns surrounding school meals with local school management, before meeting with local councillors; notes that they presented their concerns to the local Cowdenbeath Area Committee in February 2024, where they received the backing of councillors for a Fife-wide review; recognises that they recently met with civil servants from the Scottish Government to raise these concerns at the highest level; understands that the pupils are in regular dialogue with Fife Council and the Scottish Government on these issues; commends them for what it sees as their dedication to their campaign, and for, it believes, realising their rights under the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child, particularly article 12, and wishes them all the very best for the future.
