The Big Booby Bakesale

  • Submitted by: Kevin Stewart, Aberdeen Central, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 09 May 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-13121

That the Parliament congratulates Mechelle Clark, former owner of the popular cheese-based Aberdeen restaurant, Melt, and now baker at Trellis in Newburgh, on the success of the Big Booby Bakesale on 5 May 2024, which has raised £3,200 for Aberdeen Royal Infirmary's Plastics and Burns Unit; notes that the charity bake sale, which was held at Parx Cafe on Rubislaw Terrace and included products donated by Aberdeen bakers, Bandit Bakery, Sourcloud Bakes, Feingebäck Pastries and The Crusty Slice, plus The Highlanders Bakehouse in Crathie and The Culinary Kiwi in Insch, attracted over 500 customers, selling out in just two hours; understands that Mechelle's own experiences with breast cancer and the expert care that she received at the specialised unit motivated her to organise the sale to give something back to the unit, with the funds raised going towards purchasing new breast care equipment; wishes Mechelle well on her continued recovery, and hopes that any similar events held in the future prove to be just as successful.
