  • Submitted by: Sharon Dowey, South Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 09 May 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-13111

That the Parliament congratulates JST (Floating Piers) Ltd, which was one of 252 organisations recognised nationally with a prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise on 6 May 2024; commends JST on being one of only 59 UK companies recognised for excellence in innovation, and one of only 13 Scottish firms honoured for their achievements; understands that the highly sought after business awards highlight the innovation of South Ayrshire company, JST, which helped to solve major challenges in realising the timber assets in some of the UK’s more remote woodland properties by offering an integrated floating pier system as a key interface between the shoreline and water; recognises what it sees as the benefits of a floating pier system over road transportation, with a reported reduction in CO2 emissions by around 2,475 metric tonnes annually due to a saving of 1.75 million HGV road miles; commends what it sees as the innovative and sustainable approach of JST, which has operations throughout the UK and Ireland; congratulates all involved on this outstanding achievement, and wishes them continued success for the future.
