Lidl Return Scheme

  • Submitted by: Bill Kidd, Glasgow Anniesland, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 21 February 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12222

That the Parliament welcomes the introduction by the supermarket, Lidl, of a recycling return scheme being trialled in Glasgow until 11 August 2024; understands that participants can recycle aluminium drinks cans or plastic drinking bottles in exchange for a 5p Lidl voucher at a number of stores in Glasgow and the surrounding region; welcomes the fact that participants can opt for a charity donation in lieu, which will see the voucher go to the STV Children’s Appeal, and encourages as many people as possible to participate and make the scheme a sustainable success story.
